Please, if you have a moment take the time to sign this petition. The British Government are planning to reclassify craft as non-creative. That means that all the carpenters, the glass blowers, the metal workers, jewellers, & ceramicists of our country will no longer be perceived as creative individuals. The designs we make will not be considered creative & the £3.5 billion they contribute to the economy will go unsung. Please help in making sure that these craftsmen & women will be regarded as creative.
50cm tall leaning vessel based on Rob Kesseler’s photograph of a marigold seed. I wanted it to appear as if it was twisting & turning, about to curl over, drawing inspiration from the seed itself & wanting to convey a sense of movement, much like Thomas Heatherwick’s rolling bridge. A pretty challenging piece to make, it did feel like I was trying to defy physics.
